Calling all upcyclers!
What's an upcycler? Someone who turns old clothes and other textiles into exciting new apparel and accessories. Imagine an old pair of jeans becoming a messenger bag or what used to be a tablecloth becoming a pair of pajama bottoms!
At this workshop, participants will learn the basics of sewing on a machine while creating small, individual projects using repurposed materials. Students will also collaborate to transform a collection of WMS spirit t-shirts into quilt squares that will be assembled into a spirit quilt to be displayed at WMS.
No experience is necessary. Participants should wear comfortable clothes that they don’t mind getting a little messy, and bring a water bottle, a snack, and any old clothing or textiles they would like to repurpose in their projects.
This workshop is led by Jackie Whiting, teacher and librarian at Whisconier Middle School.
