Boat Ramp Rules and Regulations
The Brookfield Boat Ramp is provided for the use of eligible residents and taxpayers. Please follow the rules below to ensure safe and fair access for all users.
Access & Eligibility
- The boat ramp gate must be closed and locked at all times after entering or exiting the facility.
- Boat ramp passes are available only to individuals who reside in or pay taxes to the Town of Brookfield.
- Applicants must provide current and valid boat registration at the time of purchase.
- A separate boat ramp pass is required for each boat. The fee for a second boat will be equal to the car-top boat fee.
Permits & Stickers
- All boats must display the permit sticker permanently affixed to the boat on the port side (left), next to the registration number).
- Boat trailers must also display a permit sticker permanently affixed to the driver’s side (left side) of the trailer tongue or frame, near the hitch.
- Boat ramp passes are valid from April 1 through December 31 of the same calendar year.
Ramp Use
- The boat ramp is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
- For safety reasons, only individuals actively launching or retrieving boats are permitted on the ramp.
- Boat docks are for loading and unloading only. Boats may not remain at the docks for longer than 10 minutes.
Parking
- Parking within Town Park is prohibited.
- All vehicles and trailers must park across the street at Cadigan Park, between the designated signs adjacent to the tennis courts.
Lake Speed Limits
- Lake speed limits are as follows:
- 45 mph during daylight hours
- 25 mph from one-half hour after sunset until one-half hour before sunrise
Overnight Parking
- No vehicle, boat trailer, or boat—whether registered or unregistered—may be parked in any park facility for more than 24 hours without a permit issued by the Director of Parks & Recreation.
One Day Pass
- Day passes may be issued for temporary use of the boat ramp. A day pass provides access to the ramp for a period of 24 hours from the time of issuance.
- A gate key will be issued with each day pass. The key must be returned within 24 hours of issuance. Failure to return the key within the required time may result in the loss of future day-pass privileges and/or additional fees.
- All day pass holders must prominently display the day pass in their vehicle. The pass must be hung from the rearview mirror so that it is clearly visible from outside the vehicle.
- If the vehicle does not have a functioning rearview mirror, the day pass must be placed face-up on the driver’s side dashboard and remain clearly visible.
- Vehicles that fail to properly display a valid day pass may be subject to enforcement, including towing at the owner’s expense.
- Lost or unreturned keys will result in a replacement fee as determined by the Brookfield Parks & Recreation Department. Additional penalties or suspension of ramp privileges may apply if the key is not returned.
- A limit may be placed on the number of day passes issued to any individual per boating season in order to ensure fair access to the facility and encourage the purchase of a seasonal permit.
